Accenture and Mistral AI join forces for sovereign AI in Europe
Accenture has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with Mistral AI, a French provider of artificial intelligence (AI) models and solutions.
Together, the two companies will deliver AI transformations for multinationals and large enterprises in the Netherlands and across Europe. Mistral AI will provide the software – including models and products – while Accenture will design, implement, and scale the technology within organisations, both from a technological and organisational perspective.
In addition, the two parties will offer joint training programmes and certifications for shared clients. Through this collaboration, they aim to equip organisations with the capabilities required to independently scale the deployment of AI.
The strategic partnership comes just days after Accenture was selected as one of four global partners of OpenAI, another leading provider of large language models (LLMs). Accenture is also a partner of the US-based Anthropic.
Sovereign AI
Mauro Macchi, CEO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Accenture, notes that the partnership with Mistral AI stands out for its focus on sovereign AI. This approach to AI governance enables organisations to retain ownership and control over their technology, data and applications. In addition, organisations’ data remains hosted on servers within the EU, ensuring they maintain full control over their information and operate in compliance with European laws and regulations.
For Europe, sovereign AI is becoming an increasingly important theme, as businesses currently rely heavily on US providers. The three major hyperscalers – Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure – together account for more than 70% of the European cloud market.
