Global logistics and fulfillment services company Bleckmann has successfully integrated generative AI (Gen AI) into its commercial operations to accelerate international expansion following a successful partnership with consultancy SparkOptimus.

Faced with the challenge of meeting ambitious growth targets with a lean sales and marketing department, the company sought a way to increase productivity without the need to expand its workforce. The previous methods for managing potential clients relied on manual processes that were slow and lacked the data-driven insights necessary to compete in a rapidly evolving market.

To address these inefficiencies, Bleckmann collaborated with SparkOptimus to design a comprehensive digital strategy centered on automation and advanced data analysis. The project focused on transforming a time-consuming lead generation system into a streamlined, high-tech operation.

Successful pilot

By adopting a rapid innovation approach, the team developed and launched four distinct pilot programs within a ten-week period. These tools were designed to identify, research, and prioritize new business opportunities, allowing the sales staff to focus their energy on the most promising prospects.

The results of this digital transformation have been immediate and substantial. The time required to research and enrich data for potential new clients decreased by approximately 90%, representing a massive shift in operational efficiency.

Solid AI base

This reduction in administrative burden has effectively increased the capacity of the existing commercial team, allowing them to engage with more customers in less time. The company now also leverages predictive technology that has improved how it prioritizes its outreach, ensuring that resources are directed toward the opportunities with the highest likelihood of success.

Beyond the initial efficiency gains, this initiative has provided Bleckmann with a permanent framework for future innovation. The company has established a new set of organizational standards and technical infrastructure that will allow it to scale these AI tools across the commercial organization.

AI can act as a significant force multiplier in these scenarios by rapidly analyzing massive datasets to identify high-value opportunities that might be overseen in manual processes. By automating repetitive administrative tasks, these technologies enable professionals to focus their efforts on strategic relationship building and creative problem solving.

“We are very happy with how quickly SparkOptimus shaped our (Gen) AI vision and translated it into pilots that delivered concrete proof points of business value, demonstrating the potential of (Gen) AI,” said Jurrie-Jan Tap, chief business development officer at Bleckmann.
