Digital Business Insights: Steering digital transformation with confidence

Anderson MacGyver has launched ‘Digital Business Insights’ – a new framework that provides organisations with insight into their performance in the area of digital transformation.

In recent years, technology has evolved from a supporting function into a strategic differentiator for most – if not all – organisations. As a result, organisations are investing record amounts in digital transformation programmes. However, across sectors and disciplines, evidence shows that far too many of these initiatives fail to achieve their original objectives.

“It often proves challenging to translate vision into execution,” says Robbert Petterson, who leads the research on behalf of Anderson MacGyver. “At the same time, it can be difficult to ensure coordinated action across the entire organisation.”

According to Petterson, this alignment is essential because “digital transformation is not an IT project, but a strategic imperative for the whole organisation.”

This context prompted Anderson MacGyver to develop a model for board members and senior executives. Concepted in partnership with Utrecht University and Nyenrode Business Universiteit, the model is grounded in academic research.

“With Digital Business Insights, we help board members make evidence-based decisions about the choices required to create real digital value,” Petterson explains. “It provides insight into where they currently stand in their digital journey and which strategic priorities require the greatest attention.”

The approach is also designed to ensure that the digital journey becomes a shared journey – aligning perspectives within the boardroom and fostering collective ownership.

Petterson continues: “Many CIOs know exactly what needs to happen digitally, but find it difficult to bring other senior leaders along. When peers within the same organisation complete the survey, it creates a shared understanding. This makes the strategic conversation about the role of technology and data more concrete and more effective.”

In addition, the results offer organisations a valuable framework for reflection, enabling them to assess their performance against industry peers. “Participants can compare their digital transformation progress with anonymised benchmark data from other organisations. This provides meaningful insight into urgency, key challenges and required investments.”

Digital Business Insights is available free of charge via the Anderson MacGyver website.
